TO: The Anchorage Assembly
WHEREAS the Airport Heights Community Council Parks Committee members read in its entirety the Anchorage Bowl Parks Plan taking into consideration the public process that went into the construction of the document.
WHEREAS the Airport Heights Community Council Parks Committee completed a document outlining support for the Anchorage Bowl Parks Plan as written and submitted such document to the Municipality of Anchorage Planning Department.
WHEREAS the Airport Heights Community Council Parks Committee recognizes the critical need for Anchorage to maintain a progressive, citizen-led approach to public land use to improve the quality of life for Anchorage citizens.
WHEREAS the Airport Heights Community Council Parks Committee comments encouraged the Municipality of Anchorage Planning Department to expand the city's trail system and add more parkland to the city's inventory to support linking public lands together through a more integrated trail system. This includes the extension of the coastal trail.
THEREFORE the Airport Heights Community Council supports in its entirety the Municipality of Anchorage Parks Plan as written without amendment. The Airport Heights Community Council recognizes the multi-faceted needs of Anchorage citizens when it comes to parks and supports the needs of the community as a whole. The Airport Heights Community Council recognizes this document as a product of the public process.
